almost amish finish and one monthly goal from Making A Lather

I have finished almost amish for my one monthly goal.

65 x 76

I used a tye dye sheet for the back and quilted in free hand swirls

This was a mercy project - I felt sorry for it and then it took over. It could easily be a jelly roll quilt as it uses 2 1/2 inch strips. I have a whole shelf of solid fabric that I rarely use. I am glad I could find the colors I wanted on that shelf.

October one monthly goal from Making A Lather

I didn't finish my one monthly goal for August until September, and, I didn't even make a goal for September. I have 45 of my own quilts in the 'to be quilted' closet. Which is ridiculous. I have set a goal to work on the longarm with my own quilts at least 30 minutes each day until the end of the year. I wonder how many I can do with just 30 minutes. I am also hoping that once I start I will just keep going past 30 minutes. But, we are still finishing the garden.

What I've been working on! from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

In an effort to reduce more of my UFO's, a four more projects have been pulled off the shelf.

I have just two more of these leaf blocks to make and then I can pin all the blocks on my design wall and see where I'm at with this project.

Then, fabrics have been pulled to make more of these red/neutral blocks.
More petals are being prepped to continue working on this green/blue/yellow blocks.
Last, but not least, borders have been decided on my Got Dots top.  I didn't realize the centre had all ...

Cottage Days from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

My sister and I were recently at our family cottage for a few days.  The weather had warmed up a tad and the rain finally stopped allowing us to take a trip out.  We are extremely grateful for the rain because our area has been quite dry and we were fearful of some forest fires breaking out.

While out there, the hummingbirds kept us entertained by the hour.   You can just barely see a tail on the left hand side of the feeder.  They come and go so quickly.  We have two feeders hanging off our screened in porch and ...

border time from Making A Lather

We had a guild class last Saturday, The class was the collage technique by Laura Heine. I really like the look of her patterns, but, our teacher had made some really amazing collage quilts that we saw in person. The class was fun, but, I wasn't one of her successful students. I just couldn't get the "any little motif" can turn into a big picture thing. It wasn't for me. Maybe, sometime later. I didn't even take pictures.

After the class was finished, I had time to layout  almost amish from Jos country junction here. It ...

rows upon rows from Making A Lather

I have all the blocks for almost amish from Jos country junction here. in rows.

And I have started to assemble the top. It is slow going for me, as I am angularly challenged. There is a graph in the book I am following. I can get the angle wrong while looking right at it. All I have to do is look at the pieces and they thread. I will need to spend a lot of time with a lint brush.

country roads top from Making A Lather

I found crocus blooming and rhubarb is peeking it's head out of the ground

I added a 2 1/2 inch border to my country roads quilt. I finished the top at the last retreat. It was part of the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy for the last two years. I made the blocks in each month's color.

I needed a 97 x97 back, so, it was time to use a wide backing that I bought during a backing sale at joann fabrics. I chose more yellow for the binding and this quilt now lives in the ...

a new old project from Making A Lather

Shhh I am not really working on this project. It is not on the list for the month.. or the year..

It was part of the huge reorganization of ufo projects. I felt sorry for it. I knew it would not get picked as the top ten projects for many years to come. It would just sit there, looking sad every time, that it was not chosen. And, all I would have to do is sew a few 2 1/2 inch strips together, that are already cut.

This is a quilt called almost amish from Jos country junction here ...
